RECTOR PARK EAST LAWN: EARLY CLOSURE

Beginning Monday, October 29, Rector Park’s east lawn will be fenced off for the season. It is scheduled to re-open in April 2019.

Each fall, the lawns of Battery Park City’s parks are closed from mid-November to mid-April. This allows them time to heal from the heavier usage they experience during spring and summer months.

Early closure of Rector Park’s east lawn, which has sustained significant wear-and-tear this year (pictured above), will provide additional opportunity for repair and regrowth in time for its April re-opening.

Rector Park’s west lawn will remain open until the neighborhood-wide lawn closures in mid-November.
