Freedom of Information Law

BPCA records are available to the public in accordance with Article 85 of the New York State Public Officers law, known as the “Freedom of Information Law”, or FOIL. The Committee on Open Government (the “Committee”) is the New York State agency responsible for overseeing the Freedom of Information Law, Open Meetings and Personal Privacy Protection Laws. Requests for records may be made at the BPCA office during normal business hours to:

APPEAL OF BPCA FOIL DENIALS
Any person denied access to a record maintained by the BPCA may, within 30 days, appeal such denial by writing to BPCA’s FOIL Appeals Officer:

COMMITTEE ON OPEN GOVERNMENT
The Committee on Open Government (the “Committee”) is the New York State agency “responsible for overseeing and advising with regard to the Freedom of Information, Open Meetings and Personal Privacy Protection Laws . . . .” The Committee maintains a web site that includes the text of the Freedom of Information Law as well as regulations adopted by the Committee pursuant to FOIL.

AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS

Upon appointment, public records maintained by the BPCA are available for inspection or copying on weekdays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at 200 Liberty Street, 24th Floor, New York, NY 10281.
