"Battery Park City and the Authority are not just about the buildings – it’s about the character of the community that has developed over time. Public space has had a new renaissance in New York City, but here in Battery Park City is where it started."

BATTERY PARK CITY’S ANNUAL TREE RECYCLING

It’s beginning to look a lot like tree recycling! Penned in on the northwest corner of Esplanade Plaza, a steady assemblage of Christmas trees now grows. It’s all part of the Battery Park City Authority’s annual, post-holiday, tree recycling tradition.

Each year BPCA collects Christmas trees left by its residents, which we then chip and use for composting, plant protection, and soil insulation and enrichment throughout Battery Park City Parks. With your help we’ve collected more than 8,000 trees over the past four years!

WATCH: Help BPC stay green this holiday season

Here’s how to participate: Simply place your unadorned tree curbside through Friday, January 22 for pickup – no stands, lights, ornaments, or tinsel, please – and we’ll take care of the rest.

Thank you for you helping keep Battery Park City beautiful!
