HONORING WOMANHOOD ON MOTHER’S DAY – POEMS BY MAHOGANY L. BROWNE & FRIENDS
May 14 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Mahogany L. Browne reads from her books Woke Baby, Black Girl Magic: A Poem, and I Remember Death By Its Proximity to What I Love, a response to the impact of mass incarceration on women and children. Enjoy readings by other poets who are mothers, music, and art activity. Mother’s Day in America began as a day of activism to decrease infant mortality. During the Civil War it became an anti-war call to action for mothers of both Confederate and Union families and an international movement for “women to promote the interests of peace.”
