"Battery Park City and the Authority are not just about the buildings – it’s about the character of the community that has developed over time. Public space has had a new renaissance in New York City, but here in Battery Park City is where it started."

BPC: DID YOU KNOW? | CAISSON REPAIR WORK

Beginning Thursday, May 31, Battery Park City residents will notice two barges docked side-by-side in the river alongside Esplanade Plaza.

One barge, closest to the seawall, is continuing earlier work begun on the steel Sheet Pile Encasement Project. This initiative entails reinforcing, with concrete, the caissons that support the landfill BPC is built on against the waters of the Hudson. This preventive maintenance project is scheduled to run through early July 2017.

The second barge will be doing pile remediation work, the same as is currently underway in South Cove. That project is scheduled to conclude at the end of October 2017.
