"Battery Park City and the Authority are not just about the buildings – it’s about the character of the community that has developed over time. Public space has had a new renaissance in New York City, but here in Battery Park City is where it started."

BPC: DID YOU KNOW? | BALL FIELD RECONFIGURATION

Twice a year, BPCA re-configures its Ball Fields to facilitate league play. Each March (pictured above), the fields are converted to a baseball/softball layout in preparation for the Downtown Little League season. In August the fields are converted from baseball/softball to a youth soccer/football configuration.

Restored by BPCA after sustaining damage from Hurricane Sandy, the BPC Ball Fields are one of downtown’s great athletic facilities, annually playing host to more than 50,000 users of all ages and interests.

To protect the Ball Fields from flooding as a result of future storms, BPCA is in the process of designing a flood protection system with an anticipated project completion in late 2020.
