"Battery Park City and the Authority are not just about the buildings – it’s about the character of the community that has developed over time. Public space has had a new renaissance in New York City, but here in Battery Park City is where it started."

TREE RECYCLING IN BATTERY PARK CITY

As the holiday season passes, the Battery Park City Authority is again collecting trees for its annual recycling program beginning Tuesday, December 26.

Please leave your undecorated tree on the curb for pickup by our BPC Parks team – no tinsel, ornaments, or lights please! Collections will continue through early January.

Recycled trees are used locally throughout our parks for various purposes, including composting, plant protection, and soil insulation and enrichment. As part of last year’s recycling program, roughly 2,500 trees were chipped for use as mulch across our parks. Video from one of those sessions can be found here.

Happy holidays and thank you for helping keep Battery Park City beautiful!
