"Battery Park City and the Authority are not just about the buildings – it’s about the character of the community that has developed over time. Public space has had a new renaissance in New York City, but here in Battery Park City is where it started."

The North / West Battery Park City Resiliency Project (NWBPCR) contemplates protective measures employed along the northern and western portions of Battery Park City to reduce the risks associated with storm surge and sea level rise.
The North BPC section of this project will span BPC’s North Esplanade, entail a deployable barrier crossing West Street / Route 9A, and extend into western Tribeca. This area represents one of BPC’s (and Lower Manhattan’s) most vulnerable points for storm surge inundation and flooding.
The West BPC section of this project will be accomplished by leveraging existing infrastructure – including garden/park walls – to the greatest extent possible in order to create a new line of flood protection along the waterfront, with the capability of connecting to the South BPC Resiliency Project upon completion.
Please join BPCA and the AECOM project team at an upcoming virtual public meeting about NWBPCR. The session will include a project introduction followed by a Q&A session.
